Allows legal proceedings against third parties liable for injuries or deaths of Chicago police officers, even after the pension fund has paid or is obligated to pay disability or death benefits.

Grants the pension fund a claim or lien on any recovery from third parties, but only on portions allocated to past and future lost salary, not on medical care, pain and suffering, loss of consortium, or attorney's fees.

Requires disabled officers or their representatives to notify the fund immediately of any lawsuit against a third party, and permits the fund to intervene in such actions at any time.

Prohibits settlement or release of claims without written consent from the Board of Trustees administering the fund, though consent must be provided expeditiously after settlement or judgment.

Permits the fund to file its own lawsuit if the officer has not done so within three months of the statute of limitations expiring, and allows the fund to recover expenses and attorney's fees from any third-party recovery.
