Creates the Tamms Minimum Security Unit Task Force to study repurposing of the Tamms Minimum Security Unit facility and its property.

Task Force shall evaluate options including mental health services, health services, public safety, law enforcement training, fire services, and medical training.

Task Force membership includes 11 members: chair appointed by Lieutenant Governor, 2 House members, 2 Senate members, Director of Corrections, labor representative, representatives from Shawnee Community College and Southern Illinois University, mayor of Tamms, and Alexander County representative.

Members serve without compensation; Task Force meets at least 2 times per year with administrative support provided by Department of Corrections.

Task Force must submit recommendations to Governor and General Assembly by December 31, 2023, and is dissolved on January 1, 2024.
