IL HB3379

Amends Section 7-5.5 of the Criminal Code of 2012 regarding prohibited use of force by peace officers.

Removes the prohibition against peace officers discharging kinetic impact projectiles or other non-lethal or less-lethal projectiles that target the back.

Maintains existing prohibitions on targeting the head, neck, groin, or anterior pelvis with kinetic impact projectiles and other non-lethal or less-lethal projectiles.

Preserves all other existing restrictions on peace officer use of force, including prohibitions on chokeholds, conducted electrical weapons, indiscriminate firearm discharge, and use of chemical agents without proper dispersal orders.
