• Extends the deadline to file Line of Duty Compensation Act claims from one year to two years after the date of death for law enforcement officers, civil defense workers, civil air patrol members, paramedics, firefighters, chaplains, and State employees.

• Creates a continuing annual appropriation from the General Revenue Fund to the Court of Claims to cover any deficiency in appropriations for Line of Duty Compensation Act claims, with unused amounts charged against subsequent appropriations.

• Requires the Court of Claims to report to legislative leaders and the Governor's Office of Management and Budget on any continuing appropriations used at the conclusion of each fiscal year.

• Maintains existing provisions requiring one percent monthly interest penalties on Line of Duty awards not paid within six months of claim filing, regardless of the reason for delay.

• Takes effect immediately upon becoming law.
