• Amends the Firearms Restraining Order Act to expand who can file petitions for such orders.

• Adds six categories of health care professionals as eligible petitioners if they have treated the respondent within 6 months preceding the petition filing: physicians, psychiatrists, clinical psychologists, licensed clinical social workers, advanced practice registered nurses certified in mental health, and licensed marriage and family therapists.

• Maintains existing petitioner categories: family members of the respondent and law enforcement officers alleging danger from firearm possession.

• Firearms restraining orders continue to prohibit named persons from possessing, purchasing, or receiving firearms, ammunition, or firearm parts that could be assembled into operable firearms.
