IL HB3555

Establishes the School International Trips Program administered by the State Board of Education to fund international school trips for low-income students in disadvantaged neighborhoods.

Makes grants available to public schools, charter schools, area vocational centers, and laboratory schools where the percentage of low-income students exceeds the state average.

Requires grant recipients to conduct or contract programming that educates students in science, technology, engineering, art, and math (STEM), with priority given to hands-on experience and programs promoting young women in STEM fields.

Creates the School International Trips Program Fund in the state treasury to receive appropriations, grants, and gifts for program expenses.

Authorizes the State Board of Education to adopt rules for program implementation, including application procedures and fund disbursement mechanisms if requests exceed available funds.
