General Assembly members with disabilities as defined in Section 1-159.1 may request specialized license plates displaying the International Symbol of Access, issued with a corresponding disability placard for vehicle display.

Surviving spouses of General Assembly members are not entitled to retain disability symbol plates after the member's death, though spouses of retired members may retain standard retired member plates.

Retired General Assembly members with disabilities may request specialized plates with the International Symbol of Access, subject to provisions in Section 3-616 and issued with a corresponding disability placard.

Retired members of the Illinois congressional delegation who have disabilities may request specialized plates displaying the International Symbol of Access, issued with a disability placard, with surviving spouses ineligible to retain such plates.
