Schools providing special education for children with disabilities may maintain a supply of undesignated oxygen tanks in secure, accessible locations such as classrooms and lunchrooms.

Physicians, physician assistants with prescriptive authority, or advanced practice registered nurses may prescribe undesignated oxygen tanks in the name of school districts providing special education facilities for children with disabilities.

Oxygen tank supplies must be maintained according to manufacturer's instructions and comply with local fire department rules.

This provision allows schools serving students with developmental disabilities to have oxygen available in high-risk areas for emergency medical situations.
