IL HB3694

Amends Section 112-6 of the Code of Criminal Procedure to make grand jury proceedings involving excessive use of force by peace officers open to the public.

Applies to investigations of excessive use of force by a peace officer and discharge of a firearm by a peace officer that result in death or bodily harm.

Defines "excessive use of force" as force not justified under Article 7 of the Criminal Code of 2012.

Defines "peace officer" according to Section 2-13 of the Criminal Code of 2012.

Takes effect immediately upon becoming law.
