IL HB3756

Prohibits the Legislative Ethics Commission from adopting rules requiring the Legislative Inspector General to seek advance approval before commencing investigations or issuing subpoenas, and voids any existing such rules.

Requires the Legislative Ethics Commission to make all founded reports by the Legislative Inspector General available to the public, unless a 6-member majority votes to deny release and provides public reasoning for the denial.

Permits the Legislative Inspector General to make unfounded reports available to the public with the consent of the accused, including the reason why no complaint was filed.

Strips respondents of the right to offer redactions or provide responses to reports if they refuse to cooperate after being afforded the opportunity to participate in an investigation.

Takes effect immediately upon becoming law.
