IL HB3830

Amends the Public Officer Prohibited Activities Act to extend restrictions on holding multiple offices to mayors and village presidents, not just alderpersons and board members.

Prohibits mayors, alderpersons, village presidents, and board members from accepting or holding compensated employment positions appointed by the mayor or president during their term of office, unless granted leave of absence or they resign.

Allows exceptions for service as a volunteer firefighter with compensation and for alderpersons serving on the Beardstown Regional Flood Prevention District board.

Permits elected municipal officials to hold elected office in other local government units as long as there is no contractual relationship between the municipalities.

Voids any appointments made in violation of these restrictions.
