School districts may implement a voluntary postsecondary mentoring program allowing school personnel including athletic coaches, counselors, and administrative staff to provide guidance about academic and vocational options to high school students.

Mentors may assist students with college fairs and visits, college applications, career information, financial aid navigation, and developing strategies to reach postsecondary goals.

School personnel participating in the program are not required to participate and may receive compensation for their mentoring services.

School districts may issue certificates to participating personnel certifying they possess sufficient knowledge to advise students about postsecondary academic and vocational opportunities.

The State Board of Education may establish guidelines for program services and determine the form of certificates made available to school districts.
