Beginning with the 2024-2025 school year, grades 9 through 12 must receive instruction on the dangers of allergies, including recognizing signs and symptoms of allergic reactions and anaphylaxis.

Allergy instruction must cover steps to prevent exposure to allergens and safe emergency epinephrine administration, using information from the Department of Public Health and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

Information sources for allergen education shall come from the Department of Public Health and the federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

Parents or guardians may submit written objection to exempt their child from participating in allergy instruction, and refusal to participate cannot result in suspension or expulsion.
