School districts may not tie teacher performance evaluations to an entire school's standardized testing performance or to a curriculum area in which the teacher is not certified.

Teachers in contractual continued service must be evaluated at least once every 2-3 school years, with more frequent evaluations required for teachers rated "needs improvement" or "unsatisfactory."

Evaluation plans must include classroom observations, consideration of student growth, attendance, planning, instructional methods, classroom management, and subject matter competency.

Teachers rated "unsatisfactory" must receive a remediation plan within 30 school days, with remediation lasting a minimum of 90 school days in the classroom unless a collective bargaining agreement provides otherwise.

Consulting teachers must participate in remediation plans for "unsatisfactory" rated teachers, and dismissal may proceed if a teacher fails to complete remediation with a "satisfactory" or "proficient" rating.
