Cable or video providers must issue customers a pro rata credit if they request service disconnection during the first 2 weeks of a monthly billing period.

Providers must cease charging customers within one business day of receiving a termination request, or on the customer-requested date if at least 5 days in advance.

Customers may disconnect service within the first 30 days of subscribing or upgrading without incurring fees, penalties, or installation charges (except for rebate offsets and monthly service charges).

Credits must be issued no later than the next billing cycle following determination that a credit is warranted, or refunded within 30 days if the customer has terminated service.

The amendment applies to the Public Utilities Act's Section 22-501 regarding customer service and privacy protection standards for cable and video providers in Illinois.
