IL HB4270

Amends the Line of Duty Compensation Act to include emergency medical services personnel within the scope of covered workers eligible for death benefits.

Defines "Emergency Medical Services personnel" by reference to Section 3.5 of the Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Systems Act.

Extends death benefit eligibility to emergency medical services personnel killed in the line of duty under the same conditions as other covered workers (law enforcement officers, firefighters, paramedics, etc.).

Compensation amounts remain unchanged and continue to follow the existing benefit structure ranging from $10,000 to $259,038 depending on the date of death, with annual adjustments based on the Consumer Price Index for deaths occurring on or after January 1, 2003.

Act takes effect immediately upon enactment.
