IL HB4272

Exempts eight specific teacher training academy schools from local school council governance provisions: Ariel Community Academy, Chicago Academy Elementary School, Chicago Academy High School, Collins Academy High School, Lindblom Math and Science Academy, National Teachers Academy, Eric Solorio Academy High School, and Tarkington School of Excellence.

Removes provisions allowing the general superintendent to order new local school council elections, remove principals, replace faculty members, reconstitute schools, or close schools when a school on probation fails to make adequate progress after one year.

Restores powers to local school councils at schools on probation for 5 or more years, including approval authority over school improvement plans and budgets, and requires network chiefs to conduct collaborative non-binding polls with councils on principal employment, dismissal, and evaluation decisions.

Makes the bill effective immediately upon passage.
