HB4282 Summary: Genetic Counselor Licensing Act

• Removes The Genetic Counselor Licensing Act from the January 1, 2025 sunset repeal date and reschedules its repeal to January 1, 2030.

• Updates the definition of the certifying board from "ABMG" (American Board of Medical Genetics) to "ABMGG" (American Board of Medical Genetics and Genomics) throughout the Act.

• Creates new Section 12 requiring applicants and licensees to provide valid mailing and email addresses of record to the Department and notify it of any changes within 14 days.

• Replaces gendered pronouns ("he/she," "his/her") with gender-neutral language ("the person," "one's") throughout the Act.

• Removes the requirement for a Department roster of licensees' names and addresses and eliminates the "censure" disciplinary action option from the Act.
