HB4445 Summary

• Amends the Victims' Economic Security and Safety Act to require employers to permit employees who are victims or alleged victims of domestic violence, sexual violence, gender violence, or any other crime of violence to use employer-provided electronic devices for personal use to document or communicate these crimes.

• Requires employers to grant employees and their family or household members access to photographs, video recordings, audio recordings, and other digital documents or communications stored on employer-provided devices when needed for criminal proceedings to establish allegations of violence.

• Permits access to stored materials by a family or household member if an employee is seriously injured or incapacitated and whose interests are not adverse to the employee regarding the violence.

• Requires employers covered by the Act to post and keep posted conspicuous notices prepared or approved by the Director of Labor explaining these provisions, with notices being readily visible, legible, and sufficiently large for easy reading.

• Becomes effective immediately upon passage.
