• Exempts court security officers from Criminal Code provisions that prohibit carrying and possessing weapons in vehicles, concealed on persons, or on public streets and lands within municipalities.

• Classifies court security officers as qualified law enforcement officers (or qualified retired/separated law enforcement officers if retired) under the federal Law Enforcement Officers Safety Act of 2004.

• Allows court security officers to carry weapons while performing official duties or commuting between homes and places of employment with the consent of the Sheriff.

• Extends the same weapons exemptions to retired court security officers who meet applicable state law requirements for implementation of the federal Law Enforcement Officers Safety Act.
