HB4492 Summary

• Establishes 50% undergraduate tuition waivers for children of employees at Illinois public universities who have worked in the University System for at least 7 years aggregate.

• Provides full undergraduate tuition waivers for children of persons who died while employed full-time by any Illinois public university or while on approved leave from such employment.

• Applies to children under age 25 at the start of the academic year and who meet standard university admissions requirements.

• Allows waiver renewal for up to 4 years of undergraduate education if student maintains satisfactory academic progress toward graduation.

• Effective July 1, 2024; applies to University of Illinois, Southern Illinois University, Chicago State University, Eastern Illinois University, Governors State University, Illinois State University, Northeastern Illinois University, Northern Illinois University, and Western Illinois University.
