IL HB4618

Amends the School Code to extend the validity period for petition signatures in school district boundary change proceedings from 6 months to one year before filing.

Signatures on boundary change petitions must still match official voter registration records and be dated by the signer, with no signatures added or withdrawn after petition filing.

Regional superintendents make determinations regarding petition validity and may return non-compliant petitions; dissatisfied parties may appeal to the regional board of school trustees.

Effective immediately upon passage.
