IL HB4743

Establishes a Safety Committee within the Department of Corrections to assess workplace compliance with the Occupational Safety and Health Act and other applicable workplace health and safety laws.

Requires the Safety Committee to be comprised of both bargaining unit and non-bargaining unit Department employees, with at least 40% of members being bargaining unit employees.

Director of Corrections appoints 60% of Safety Committee members, including all non-bargaining unit members.

Committee must make recommendations for improvements to processes and procedures to enhance workplace safety.

Committee shall prepare an annual report detailing the Department's workplace safety efforts and plans to further promote safety in the workplace.
