Department of Corrections and Department of Juvenile Justice must establish procedures to discharge individuals convicted of sex offenses, first degree murder, or second degree murder to the municipality (or county if in an unincorporated area) where they were residing before conviction.

Discharge location requirement applies to individuals serving sentences in either the Department of Corrections or Department of Juvenile Justice, effective immediately upon enactment.

Sex offenses are defined by the Sex Offender Registration Act, while first and second degree murder are defined by the Criminal Code of 2012.
