IL HB4822

Amends the Illinois Insurance Code to require group and individual health insurance policies and managed care plans (amended, delivered, issued, or renewed on or after January 1, 2025) to cover pharmacist-provided health care services when the pharmacist meets specified requirements and is included in the plan's network.

Adds a new paragraph (18) to the definition of "practice of pharmacy" in the Pharmacy Practice Act to permit pharmacists to order testing, screening, and treatment for influenza.

Modifies paragraph (17) regarding tests and screenings to specify that pharmacists may order and administer testing and screenings for SARS-CoV-2 and health conditions identified by statewide public health emergencies (removing influenza from this paragraph since it is now covered separately under paragraph 18).

Allows pharmacists to use waived tests under federal Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments or established screening procedures under statewide protocol when ordering tests or screenings for the conditions in paragraphs (17) and (18).

Permits pharmacists to delegate administrative and technical tasks of performing tests for these health conditions to registered pharmacy technicians or student pharmacists under pharmacist supervision.
