IL HB4990

Amends the Consumer Fraud and Deceptive Business Practices Act to prohibit telecommunications carriers from transmitting misleading or inaccurate caller identification information through caller identification services for telecommunications or voice over Internet protocol services.

Requires the Attorney General to create and maintain a website allowing Illinois residents to report incidents of misleading or inaccurate caller identification information.

Website must collect minimum information from reports including the person's name, location, telecommunications carrier, and description of the call content, which the Attorney General shall use for enforcement purposes.

Exempts blocking of caller identification information, authorized activities of municipal, state, or federal law enforcement agencies, authorized activities of federal intelligence or security agencies, and duly authorized process servers used in civil, criminal, administrative, or other authorized proceedings.
