IL HB5255

Amends the Illinois Vehicle Code Section 11-204 concerning fleeing or attempting to elude a peace officer.

Establishes that fleeing or attempting to elude a peace officer remains a Class A misdemeanor under existing law.

Creates an exception making the offense a Class 4 felony when video evidence shows the driver fleeing or attempting to elude an officer AND the flight results in damage to property belonging to the State, a unit of local government, or a school district.
