IL HB5266

Creates a presumption of disability for police officers who apply for disability benefits and have been denied reinstatement by their employer due to physical or mental incapacity.

Prohibits denial of disability benefits to eligible police officers unless their employer reinstates them or offers them a limited-duty position.

Entitles any police officer denied a disability benefit without an offer of reinstatement or limited-duty position after this act's effective date to receive disability benefits.

Exempts the State from providing reimbursement to local units of government for costs associated with implementing this mandate.
