IL HB5276

Amends the School Code to require individualized education plans (IEPs) to include measurable post-secondary goals and transition services beginning no later than when a student turns age 14½ (or younger if appropriate).

Requires school districts to provide students and parents with information about career and technical education (CTE) opportunities, dual credit courses, entry criteria, and allow IEP students to enroll in CTE programs at any time if consistent with transition goals.

Mandates that transition plans include consideration of assistive technology needs, evaluations, devices, and services related to employment, education, training, and independent living goals.

Requires identification of responsible parties for coordinating transition services and establishes procedures for referrals to outside public or private entities, including follow-up and progress monitoring.

Allows school districts to assist students with disabilities who are ineligible for special education services by identifying post-secondary goals and coordinating with other agencies.
