Beginning with the 2024-2025 school year, grades 9-12 must receive instruction on the dangers of allergies, including recognizing signs and symptoms of allergic reactions and anaphylaxis, preventing allergen exposure, and safe emergency epinephrine administration.

School boards must provide all teachers, administrators, and other school personnel with information regarding emergency procedures and life-saving techniques including the Heimlich maneuver, hands-only cardiopulmonary resuscitation, and use of automated external defibrillators within 30 days of each school year.

School districts must establish a cardiac emergency response plan as part of their annual review of emergency and crisis response protocols, with participation from school principals and local first responder organizations.

Private schools must also conduct annual reviews of their emergency and crisis response plans, including cardiac emergency response procedures, and invite local first responder representatives to participate.

The State Board of Education shall establish a matching grant program to pay half the cost of training teachers and school personnel in first aid or cardiopulmonary resuscitation, with grants awarded on a first-come, first-serve basis.
