IL HB5422

Amends the Department of Transportation Law to require IDOT to develop and publish an updated public notification policy for construction projects impacting communities.

Policy must inform the public of construction projects (excluding emergency projects) estimated to close a street or lane of traffic for longer than 5 consecutive business days.

Policy must include procedures to notify local public officials, including highway commissioners in affected IDOT districts, affected businesses, and affected communities.

Local public officials must be given the opportunity to request a meeting with IDOT prior to the initiation of construction projects.
