• Amends the Illinois School Student Records Act to allow release of student records to law enforcement officers for review, recording, or contemporaneous access to security or surveillance video, audio, or footage.

• Release of security or surveillance materials to law enforcement must be consistent with the federal Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (20 U.S.C. 1232g).

• Creates a new exception (7.5) to student record confidentiality protections specifically for law enforcement access to school security footage and surveillance materials.

• Takes effect immediately upon enactment.
