IL HB5529

Amends the Clinical Social Work and Social Work Practice Act to allow licensed clinical social workers and licensed social workers to possess and administer opioid antagonists in their professional capacity.

Requires employers of licensed clinical social workers or social workers who possess opioid antagonists to provide training in administration and establish policies controlling acquisition, storage, transportation, and administration of opioid antagonists.

Makes numerous technical amendments to the Act, including gender-neutral language updates and clarifications to definitions, licensing requirements, and disciplinary procedures.

Adds protections prohibiting the Department from disciplining licensed clinical social workers based solely on their authorization or participation in lawful healthcare services, including those lawful in other states.

Amends the Good Samaritan Act in relation to opioid antagonist administration by social workers.
