IL HB5533

Amends the Criminal Code of 2012 by modifying Section 21-1.01 (formerly Section 21-4) regarding criminal damage to government supported property.

Expands the definition of criminal damage to government supported property to explicitly include any property under the jurisdiction of the Department of Transportation.

Maintains existing criminal liability for knowingly damaging government supported property without state consent, including damage by fire, explosives, arson, or depositing offensive-smelling compounds.

The offense applies when a person knowingly commits damage to government property or intentionally interferes with use of government land or buildings without state consent.
