Persons who fail to surrender a revoked Firearm Owner's Identification Card within 48 hours of revocation notice must surrender the card to local law enforcement or Illinois State Police and complete a Firearm Disposition Record disclosing all firearms in their possession.

Violation of the surrender requirement is a Class A misdemeanor, and observation of a revoked FOID card in a person's possession provides sufficient basis for arrest.

Within 180 days after a FOID card revocation, the Illinois State Police must notify the Secretary of State if an individual fails to comply with surrender requirements.

The Secretary of State shall not issue, renew, or allow retention of a driver's license or issue a permit to any person possessing a revoked FOID card.

An individual may regain driver's license eligibility if their FOID card is successfully reinstated or if they surrender the revoked card to State Police or local law enforcement.
