HB5589 - Prohibition on Automated Online Ticket Purchasing Act

• Creates prohibition on using automated software programs (bots) to purchase event tickets in excess of posted limits for online sales.

• Prohibits bots from using multiple IP addresses, purchaser accounts, or email addresses to circumvent ticket purchase limits.

• Bans bots from circumventing or disabling electronic queues, waiting periods, presale codes, or other sales volume limitation systems for online ticket sales.

• Prohibits bots from circumventing security measures, access control systems, or other controls used to authorize entry to events.

• Authorizes Illinois Attorney General to investigate violations, seek injunctive relief, and pursue civil penalties and restitution for knowing violations of the Act.
