• Requires physicians, clinical psychologists, qualified examiners, law enforcement officials, and school administrators to notify the Department of Human Services and Illinois State Police within 24 hours when they determine a person poses a clear and present danger to themselves or others.

• Expands notification requirements to include appropriate local law enforcement agencies in addition to Illinois State Police for law enforcement officials and school administrators making danger determinations.

• Authorizes Department of Human Services and mental health facilities to share patient information with Illinois State Police and local law enforcement solely to determine if individuals are disqualified from obtaining or retaining a Firearm Owner's Identification Card or fall within federal firearm prohibitors.

• Requires mental health facilities to report information about patients determined to pose clear and present danger within 24 hours, and information about persons with developmental disabilities within 7 days.

• Provides immunity from criminal, civil, and professional liability for those making good faith notifications or disclosures under these provisions, except in cases of willful or wanton misconduct.
