Amends Section 15-111 of the Illinois Vehicle Code to add a new paragraph (17) allowing vehicles using alternative fuels (natural gas, propane, electric battery, or hydrogen fuel cell) to exceed standard weight limitations by up to 2,000 pounds on West 143rd Street between the westernmost end and west of South Van Dyke Road in the Village of Plainfield.

The weight allowance applies only to the specified location on West 143rd Street in Plainfield and does not permit vehicles to exceed any posted weight limits on other highways or structures.

Vehicles eligible for this exception must use alternative fuel as a motor fuel or be powered wholly or partially by electric battery or hydrogen fuel cell electric fueling systems.

The exception is subject to the same restrictions as the existing paragraph (14) allowance for natural gas and propane vehicles, which allows up to a 2,000-pound weight increase calculated based on fuel system weight differential compared to comparable diesel systems.
