HB5910 Summary

• Requires the Governor to annually designate the third Friday of September as POW/MIA Recognition Day by official proclamation, rather than having it automatically designated.

• Expands the recognition to include men and women who suffered captivity as POWs in foreign countries while in active service with U.S. armed forces, or who have been recognized as missing in action during wartime or hostilities.

• Requires the Governor's annual proclamation to request that some portion of the third Friday of September be used for solemn contemplation of the plight of POWs and MIAs and the resolve of their families and friends seeking full accounting for missing loved ones.

• Effective immediately upon enactment.
