Illinois reaffirms its commitment to strengthening sister-state ties with Taiwan (established in 1992) and supports the Taiwan Relations Act (TRA).

Illinois endorses Taiwan's efforts to negotiate a Bilateral Trade Agreement (BTA), Avoidance of Double Taxation Agreement (ADTA), and participation in the Indo-Pacific Economic Framework for Prosperity (IPEF) with the United States.

Supports Illinois businesses referring to Taiwan, R.O.C. as "Taiwan" in conducting business, consistent with the 1979 Taiwan Relations Act.

Recognizes Taiwan as the ninth-largest U.S. trading partner with bilateral trade exceeding $160 billion in 2022, and as Illinois' fifth-largest Asian export market with $876 million in exports in 2022.

Acknowledges Taiwan imported nearly $4.4 billion in U.S. agricultural products in 2022 and shares democratic values with Illinois and the United States.
