Illinois House of Representatives recognizes Joliet Junior College's successful launch of its 12x12x12 dual credit program in fall 2023, which allows students to earn 12 college credits for $12 per credit hour by 12th grade.

Dual credit program is available to 23 high school districts within Joliet Junior College's district, with a 3-credit course costing students only $36 compared to at least $453 for the same course taken after high school graduation.

Joliet Junior College's Board of Trustees unanimously approved a policy waiving dual credit fees for high school students enrolled in the National School Lunch Program to remove socioeconomic barriers to education.

Fall 2023 enrollment saw a 23.9% increase in dual credit applicants (1,052 new students), including a 70% increase in African American participation (210 new students) and a 38% increase in Hispanic participation (277 new students).

Joliet Junior College will expand the program in fall 2024 to offer dual credit opportunities to high school freshmen, with the House encouraging other community colleges to implement similar programs.
