Illinois House of Representatives mourns the death of Danny Barlow of Chicago, who passed away on July 3, 2024.

Danny Barlow was born June 13, 1953, to Marlene Barlow and Rapier "Ray" Bond; he was the eldest of seven siblings and was baptized at Morning Star Baptist Church.

Barlow attended Forestville Upper Grade Center and Dunbar Vocational High School, where he participated in singing, tap dancing, wrestling, and JROTC, achieving the rank of lieutenant colonel and battalion commander.

Barlow worked as a union carpenter with Carpenters Local 1185 for decades, becoming well-known in the flooring industry and helping hundreds of people join the union, including his sons, grandsons, and friends.

Barlow is survived by his wife Marie, 11 children combined from his two marriages, and more than 50 grandchildren and great-grandchildren; he will be remembered for his work ethic, leadership, and infectious joy.
