Susan "Sue" Duncan of Chicago passed away on July 9, 2024, at age 89 after a lifetime of service to education.

Founded the Sue Duncan Children's Center in 1961 as an after-school program in Kenwood, serving thousands of children from Chicago's South Side for over 50 years.

Provided tutoring, clothing, food, and scholarship assistance to students; many graduates became engineers, doctors, lawyers, educators, police officers, and community leaders.

Received a UNICEF Humanitarian Award and was the subject of the 2014 documentary "Remember Me Sue" celebrating her life and work.

Survived by three children including former U.S. Secretary of Education Arne Duncan, and nine grandchildren.
