Congratulates Senior Chaplain Dan Lovin on his retirement effective August 31, 2024, after over 30 years in law enforcement chaplaincy.

Chaplain Lovin began his chaplaincy career at Jefferson County Sheriff's Office in December 1994 and served with Mt. Vernon Police Department starting May 1998, achieving master certification with the International Conference of Police Chaplains.

Served as chaplain for Jefferson County Fraternal Order of Police, senior chaplain for Illinois Fraternal Order of Police where he led the Critical Incident Response Team, and chaplain coordinator for Illinois Baptist organizations.

Responded to national crises including multiple trips to New York City following the 9/11 attacks in 2001 and relief efforts in New Orleans following Hurricane Katrina in 2005.

Received the International Conference of Police Chaplains' John A. Price Award for Excellence in Chaplaincy in July 2010 and the Wentink-Kauffman Award for Excellence in Law Enforcement Chaplaincy in July 2018.
