Illinois House of Representatives mourns the death of Andrea M. Coleman of Chicago, who passed away on November 23, 2024

Coleman was born in Chicago in 1939, graduated from Marshall High School, and purchased her home on 108th Street in the Roseland community in 1969

Worked for Illinois Bell beginning in 1963 and retired from marketing in 1993; was committed to her faith and Catholic education for her children

Known throughout her community as "Mama Coleman," she was remembered as a generous cook during holidays and for always being available to help those in need

Survived by children Angela Coleman and Brian A. Coleman, Village of Richton Park Trustee; preceded in death by daughter Veda and siblings Andrew, Arlene, Terry, and Terrine
