IL SB0054

Amends the Illinois Insurance Code Section 356w to require coverage for insulin pumps and medical supplies needed for insulin pump use when medically necessary and prescribed by a physician.

Expands existing diabetes treatment coverage to include insulin pumps and related supplies as part of pharmaceuticals and supplies covered under group accident and health insurance policies.

Applies to group policies amended, delivered, issued, or renewed after the effective date of this act for treatment of type 1 diabetes, type 2 diabetes, and gestational diabetes mellitus.

Insulin pump coverage subject to the same deductible, co-payment, and co-insurance provisions as other drug benefits under the policy.
