• An alternative educational plan must be developed within the earliest practicable time, with required components including plan duration with a return date, specific academic and behavioral elements, and a progress review method with transition procedures.

• A transition meeting must occur at least 30 days before the student's scheduled return to regular education, with the student and parents invited to all planning meetings.

• The return date to regular education cannot be extended without parental consent, though it may be extended with written agreement from the sending school district, alternative program, and parent or guardian.
