SB0345 Summary

• For school districts that consolidated or approved a cooperative high school within a prior fiscal year, the highest grant index of the forming districts shall be used for the new consolidated district or cooperative high school.

• Adds two new priority categories for school construction projects: rehabilitation/reconstruction of facilities with severe health or life safety hazards (priority 1.5) and rehabilitation to alleviate classroom shortages or aging buildings (priority 1.10).

• Reorders existing priority categories, moving projects from interdistrict reorganization to priority 3 and other classroom shortage/aging building projects to priority 3.5.

• Updates Section 5-60 to reference the new number of prioritized capital needs categories in the assessment report filed with the General Assembly.

• Takes effect immediately upon becoming law.
