IL SB1098

Amends the River Conservancy Districts Act to allow mayors of municipalities with populations between 2,000 and 4,999 that purchase water from the Saline Valley Conservancy District to appoint one member to the Board of Trustees, effective July 1, 2023, for a 5-year term.

Appointed board members from water-purchasing municipalities serve until their successor is appointed and qualified or until the municipality no longer purchases water from the District, with vacancies filled by the respective mayor.

Maintains existing trustee appointment procedures for all other conservancy districts, with no changes to appointment methods, residency requirements, or term lengths for non-Saline Valley districts.

Takes effect upon becoming law.
