Expands line of duty disability benefits for police officers from 50% to 65% of basic compensation, applying to disabilities occurring on or after January 1, 2022.

Establishes that police officers who suffer heart attacks or strokes resulting from performance of police duty are eligible for the enhanced 65% disability benefit calculation.

Requires a single application form to determine eligibility for either standard (50%) or enhanced (65%) disability benefit calculations under the revised law.

Adds requirement for employer certification on whether an employee's disability qualifies as a line of duty disability and requires physician certification specifically for line of duty disability claims.

Defines police officers as being "in performance of duty" while on any assignment approved by their chief, whether on or off employer property.
